Vettel Impresses Berlin Crowd in Red Bull Demo Action

Prior to last weekend's Race of Champions, newly crowned Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel decided to give his German fans in Berlin a few hours of thrilling demo driving. As this is their first world champion in the Great Circus since the Michael Schumacher era, the fans gathered in enormous numbers before the Brandenburg Gate to cheer for the youngest F1 title winner in history.

Vettel took the wheel of his title-winning Red Bull RB6 on the temporary circuit established between the June 17th Street and the iconic Brandenburg Gate. The 23-year old German ended his demo run in champion-like style, giving his signature in rubber in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

It was a dream come true for me today and it was great that so many people were here, even in the cold weather,” said Vettel, according to the Red Bull official website, before getting on board of the Red Bull tour bus for a driver’s parade along Yitzhak-Rabin Street.

It’s something very special to drive in front of the Brandenburg Gate and to leave a signature of rubber written by my slicks! You don’t get such a chance very often in life – it was a great day,” concluded the German driver.

Red Bull's event in Berlin took place in parallel with a similar action in Perth, Australia, where Mark Webber and newly-appointed Scuderia Toro Rosso Friday driver Daniel Ricciardo signaled the official start of Australia's Festival of Speed last weekend. As compared to his teammate however, Vettel had only one day of celebration, as he immediately headed to the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf to compete in the 2010 RoC.

Vettel paired with 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher to take the Nations Cup title in the event, after which he was defeated by eventual winner Filipe Albuquerque in the semifinals of the main event.
