Shortly after the British Grand Prix, Webber hit out his team for favoring Vettel in the wing saga. And as if that weren't enough, the Australian driver admitted in the media that he won't take his teammate out for a beer, although he would save him in a life or death situation. However, when asked about the upcoming race at Hockenheim, he insisted he doesn't want to listen to the German national anthem after the race.
Vettel did not “return the favor” prior to this weekend's race – at least not in the media – and asked his countrymen to keep a fair-play atmosphere in the Hockenheim grandstands.
“I hope that at Hockenheim all the drivers are welcomed with respect. I know that I will never lose respect for other people. We are all sportsmen and should be treated in such a way,” said Vettel, who's home is less than half an hour drive away from the track.
Vettel's position changed a bit in the last couple of weeks, after Webber patched things up with his team to be more precise. Prior to the Webber-Red Bull discussion last week, Vettel admitted that he was sick and tired with the whole politics within the Milton Keynes based team and told the media that the Silverstone event showed everyone Webber's “true face” (although he avoided to spell out the Aussie's name).
Vettel is currently 4th in the overall classification, 7 points behind Webber. Last year, in the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, the German was defeated by his teammate, who scored his first win of his career.
