Red Bull Wing Saga Continues

Although the wing saga is believed to have found its closure after the British Grand Prix two weekends ago, some figures from within the Red Bull Racing team seem eager to develop new stories on the topic. This time, another juicy piece of information about what happened at Silverstone was brought forward by an “unnamed engineer” of the Milton Keynes based team.

According to Finland's Turun Sanomat, who is quoting the aforementioned engineer, the 33-year old Australian was unhappy with the new wing developed by Red Bull throughout the Friday and Saturday action, until it was decided that it should go to Vettel.

Both drivers ran the new wing during the Friday practice, but while Webber kept complaining about it, Vettel reportedly “loved it.” On Saturday, Vettel damaged his wing during the final practice session, and Red Bull decided to take Webber's off and give it to the German. It was then when the Australian driver suddenly developed a love-story for the new aero part, according to the engineer.

“Throughout the period when he used the new wing, he complained that it did not work any better than the old one. Mark simply did not get a good feeling with it, but when there was only one left, Mark absolutely wanted to have it. He did not care about it at all when we still had two new wings,” said the engineer.

Additionally, he insisted the team's decision in the wing story was a decent one (what a shocker!) giving the fact that Vettel was in front of Webber in the overall classification.

“We believe that the team management's decision was well-reasoned and logical,” added the engineer.
