Red Bull Advisor Hits Back at Ungrateful Webber

Red Bull's advisor Helmut Marko, the very man who was put to the wall by former Grand Prix racer Hans-Joachim Stuck for his poor management calls in the British Grand Prix, did not want the whole wing-saga to evaporate from the media headlines without him sharing his view on what happened at Silverstone.

Even though Webber put all of his outspoken Red Bull criticism on his emotions and the adrenaline following his British GP win, Marko – Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz's right hand in terms of motorsport activities – made a few comments aimed at putting the 33-year old Australian to his place.

According to the former GP driver, Webber is totally wrong in suspecting his team of favoring Sebastian Vettel for the title fight. Additionally, he warned him that he should be more appreciative of his team, as it brought him to a point where he can challenge for race wins and even the world title.

If Mark imagines there is a conspiracy between us and (Sebastian) Vettel against him, then he is on the wrong track,” said Marko in an interview with Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

If I was Vettel, then I would suspect the opposite. Which car has constantly had problems? Did Mark have a defective spark plug, a loose wheel, a broken brake, a defective chassis, a gearbox problem and the broken nose? In comparison, Webber has come out with only a black eye,” added the Austrian, referring to the Valencia incident.

Mark is having a great season, and he has improved big time, but he should not forget that he owes a lot to this team. Where was he two years ago? He could not even dream of grand prix wins. For us, it really does not matter who is champion, the main thing is that he is sitting in a Red Bull,” concluded Marko.
