Normally, when you think about a VW Beetle turned into a Baja Bug two things can spring to mind - a fiberglass shelled beach vehicle or a battered Mad Max-like dune jumper. Still, this one we found for sale manages to create a new category of its own.
The tamed desert bug, that is, which still retains most of the original Beetle shell, but ditches the wheel arches and rear end bodywork to expose the engine. Its structure has been reinforced with some metal bars, while the suspension's been raised for off-road capability.

We have no idea where does that special nose with integrated headlights comes from, but it looks nice and keeps the buggy useful even at night. The seller has put a lot of work into this ocean blue beach roamer and the list of improvements appears to be endless.

The car comes with new brakes, new rubber isolations, new fuel lines and pump, new starter and ignition, wheels and tires, redone upholstery, new battery, battery leads, a kill switch, better lights, wirings, that cool blue paint job and everything in between.

The engine is said to have been overhauled recently and it runs smoothly. Thanks to honed cylinders, new piston rings as well as enhanced push rods and seals, the seller tells that it turns like a charm.

Everything you see is 100 percent street legal and you can use it as a daily driver. The buggy is said to draw a lot of comments and thumbs up from other people on the street. “Definitely a conversation starter,” as the owner says and asks $9,500 (€7,700) OBO for it on Craigslist.
