Vauxhall Goodies for the 2010 Paris Auto Show

British car manufacturer Vauxhall announced today what it has prepared for the upcoming Paris Auto Show this October 2-17, with two world premieres and various new models set to wow the visitors. Vauxhall will introduce a new concept car dubbed GTC Paris, which will be joined by the new Astra Sports Tourer, Meriva and the Start/Stop Corsa ecoFLEX model.

“And the speed was pure beauty. This simple line from the novel, Jonathan Livingston Seagull inspires the vision around Vauxhall’s newest concept car, the GTC Paris and is laser etched into the upholstery of both front seats,” a company statement reads.

“The name, GTC Paris, evokes both the character of the vehicle and the fashionable city where it will have its debut. With its dramatic proportions and sculptural shapes the GTC Paris showcases an expressive, sporty compact hatch.”

Also, the latest Ampera development car will be on display at the event, a car that is scheduled to be launched in the UK in early 2012.

The Ampera incorporates a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery that supports an autonomy of up to 50 kilometers on electric power alone. Together with the combustion units, the electric one allows for a range of 500 km, according to official specs.

When the battery runs out of energy, the vehicle’s petrol/E85 engine generator seamlessly provides electricity. The battery can be easily recharged via any household 230v outlet.

The electric drive unit delivers 370Nm of instant torque, the equivalent of 150 PS, zero to 60mph acceleration in around nine seconds, and a top speed of 100mph.
