Normally we wouldn't take the time to write about any BMW spotted on a street in the Netherlands but this time it's something special. Around here (the autoevolution headquarters) the little 1M Coupe is the best Bimmer ever made.
M3's little 'mad brother', as we like to call it, has something special about it. It's not the limited number of cars produced (that stopped at 6,331), but something else. At the same time, it's not the power output or the impressive numbers it has on paper.
Somehow it's all of those elements combined. Just looking at this car you realize you're in real trouble once you have to face it on a race track or even in traffic. Its N54 engine with the two turbos makes an incredible sound every time it goes over 3,000 RPM, one that could be used to define the BMW exhaust note in a dictionary (if something like that existed).
The combination of power, agility, handling and everyday practicality makes this one of the best M cars ever to come out of BMW's assembly lines. Furthermore, the fact that you can enjoy this car with the stock specs so much, without having to tune it in any way, makes it even more desirable.
