BMW M3's little 'mad' brother, the 1M Coupe is one heck of a beast. Ask any of the 6,331 owners out there and they will tell you this is one of the best cars ever to come out of the BMW M division's assembly lines.
The mixture of sheer power, torque and small size makes driving this car an adventure every single time. It's fun to drive and brings the 'sheer driving pleasure' back to the tip of your toes.

However, when going in a drag race, the fun factor is not decisive. Actually, the only things that matters is the power to weight ratio (and traction, of course). The 1M has the N54 3-liter turbocharged engine under its bonnet, that delivers 340 HP and maximum 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels. With a weight of 1,495 kg (3,296 lb), the 1M's power to weight ratio climbs at 243 HP/tone.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG on the other hand, has a 6.2-liter V8 engine (more than twice the size of the N54) that pushes out 457 HP and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. Weighing only 1,730 kg (3,814 lb), the Merc has a power to weight ratio of 264 HP/tone.

Even though the specs show pretty close numbers, when it comes to high speeds, the 127 extra horsepower and 100 Nm of torque make the difference. As you can see at the beginning of the race, the 1M does pretty well, until reaching 100 km/h (62 mph). After that things take a bad turn for the Bimmer.

Not a bad race though, considering the Benz has an engine almost two times bigger than the BMW.
