V12 Zagato Production Confirmed on Aston Martin Website

It’s only been a week since Aston Martin managed to manhandle the very exclusive and exciting to look at V12 Zagato on the Nurburgring. Two cars were fielded, nicknamed ‘Zig’ and ‘Zag’ and sporting very bright paint jobs. Aston actually reconfigured the show-going version of the car it that was originally unveiled for track use, so you can imagine this is a very rare beast.

However, if a recent Autocar report turns out to be true, and odds are it is, ‘Zig’ and ‘Zag’ will have a few more brothers soon enough. Aston Martin did not make an official press announcement yet, but if you visit their official website and click on the “VIEW ALL CARS” button up top, a familiar red shape will greet you between the One-77 and the DBS.

So effectively, production of the V12 Zagato has been confirmed, a fact that is highlighted by the "only a strictly limited run of road going cars will be built".

We’ll remind you that the new car made its debut appearance in concept form at the Villa D’Este Concours on May 21, an event it won due to its incredible good looks. The V12 Zagato is based on Aston Martin’s most dynamic chassis, the V12 Vantage, but features fresh bodywork penned by the Italian design house.It celebrates the the 50th year of collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato, dating back to the original DB4 GT.

After the debut of the concept at this year’s Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in May, the car proved its metal an managed to finish the grueling 24-hour race at the Nurburgring in Germany.

To us, the V12 Zagato going into production is a closed case, however, Autocar says that company officials still deny this, yet they say they will “be sending out an official press release within a couple of weeks.”

Given the fact that it’s slotted between the DBS and the ultra-rare One-77, the Zagato should cost a pretty penny and production will be very limited.
