US F1 Blame BMW Sauber for Crash Test Rumors

US Grand Prix Engineering have dismissed recent reports that the team is yet to pass the FIA crash tests for several car components for next year and will most likely not make the grid in the 2010 Formula One opener in Bahrain.

Not only did co-owner of the US F1 project Peter Windsor deny the allegations, but he also suggested that the source of the rumoring may be identified in Switzerland. And where exactly? The BMW Sauber team, the very organization who is now pushing for a Formula 1 slot from the FIA for the upcoming season.

The report seemed to come out of Switzerland/Germany, the land of BMW-Sauber,” Windsor told the online magazine GPWeek, making a clear reference to the Swiss team's uncertain statute ahead of the next season.

The US GPE co-owner also wanted to hit back at rumors that he is seeking the right to sell the Charlotte-based team in the near future, insisting that everything is going ahead as planned and, as long as the team already signed the Concorde Agreement, they will stay by their commitment until the end. On the other hand, we know at least one team that also inked the aforementioned document and that didn't stop them from quitting the sport.

Back in the real world, we're re-furbishing some trucks we've just bought from Brawn. As for USF1 Team, I can only repeat what Ken (Anderson) and I have been saying ever since we signed the Concorde Agreement: our slot is not for sale under any circumstances and we will be racing, and giving it 100 per cent, from Bahrain onwards,” added the Surrey-born official.

Also, he made it very clear that some important parts of the US F1 car for next year have already underwent the crash tests from the FIA and have passed it successfuly.

So far, the only new team that managed to pass their entire car through the FIA crash tests (successfully that is) is Campos Grand Prix, as confirmed by their race driver Bruno Senna.
