It’s official - after being revealed in Japan earlier this month, the Toyota GT 86 will get updated worldwide, and the automaker confirmed it will reach European dealerships this summer.
And since all GT 86 derivations are made in the same Japanese plat at Subaru, this means the updated BRZ and the Scion FR-S will come around at the same time.

“There is no reason that development should stop, only because the vehicle has gone on sale. GT86 is all about driver involvement, and we are committed to keep enhancing this aspect of the car. The 2015 Model Year delivers the latest status of GT86’s continuous evolution,” said Toyota GT 86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada.

As we were reporting earlier, the hachiroku 2.1 will gain a more rigid fixation of the front suspension and rear shock absorbers, using more solid bolts. Along with them, a set of redesigned shock absorbers were added to provide a more stable damping and improved friction control.

Visually, the upgraded GT 86 will come with a new shark-fin antenna, new pearl-white and silver paint finishes as well as different pattern interior plastic trimming trying to imitate carbon fiber. Apparently, the cooler multispoke rims from the Japanese version won’t be offered world wide. Shame!

We would’ve been expecting a power increase too, but it seems that’s all we get for now. Need more juice? Then aftermarket superchargers are what you need.
