The global rollout of the upgraded 2025MY Land Rover Defender has begun in Europe, at home in the United Kingdom, and in the Land Down Under - the characteristics are identical, it seems.
Dubbed an "unstoppable 4x4" by the British automaker, the Land Rover Defender doesn't feature a true mid-cycle refresh and facelift, although the L663 modern iteration appeared back in 2019 for the 2020 model year, and it is starting to grow long in the tooth. Instead, it has been "updated with a suite of comfort-enhancing features for more luxurious all-terrain travel," gains a new special edition, and also has a new powertrain under the hood.

Land Rover has decided to simplify the trim options. There's a new Signature Interior Pack, and the Defender 130 also gains the new individual Captain Chairs Pack for the V8 model with separate second-row seats, winged headrests, and a middle aisle that gives easier access to the third row. However, the bright spot of these upgrades is the new Defender 110 Sedona Edition.

Inspired by the desert town of Sedona in Arizona, which is located near Flagstaff and surrounded by red-rock buttes with steep canyon walls, the new special series gains a fresh Sedona Red body color, which is contrasted by the Extended Black Pack. The latter features Narvik Black Defender lettering, front grille, and skid plates, as well as 22-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels and a body-coloured spare wheel cover as an exclusive combination.

The Sedona Red color was introduced on Defender 130 and now trickles down to the Defender 110 Sedona Edition, albeit for a limited time – this special series will be up for grabs for exactly a year. Optional goodies include a new hood decal showing the topography of Sedona, a Sedona Red exterior side-mounted gear carrier, Gloss Black side steps, and Gloss Black wheel arch protection. Based on the Defender X-Dynamic HSE, the Sedona Edition features the new D350 powertrain under the hood and can be featured with Ebony Windsor Leather and Kvadrat seats as part of the newly introduced Signature Interior Pack.

"Our vision for Defender is to continuously improve what is already a superb vehicle that can go anywhere and do anything. The introduction of the new Sedona Edition, enhanced interior options, and our most powerful ever Defender diesel engine mean our clients now have more choice than ever. And with the new Captain Chairs in Defender 130 V8, up to seven people can now travel in greater comfort on both epic adventures and localized expeditions," said Mark Cameron, the Managing Director for the Defender sub-brand.

All options have been curated into new or existing packs; there's a new Matte Protective Film for a contemporary finish combined with enhanced OEM protection, and Land Rover will drop the D300 engine from the diesel lineup to make way for the arrival of the more powerful D350 option. It comes with 258kW (350PS) – plus 37kW (50PS) – and additional torque, surging by 50 Nm to 700 Nm.
