Since Chrysler originally announced the revival of the Barracuda name, speculation regarding the upcoming car has begun to surface. While we now believe that it will replace the aging Dodge Challenger (or not), now we have more information regarding the Brracuda, courtesy of caranddriver.com.
It is stated that it will feature a considerably shorter wheelbase (around 15 cm / 6 inches less than the Challenger), while also having a considerably lower overall length some 20 cm / 8 inches shorter, as well as being narrower overall. This means that it will be some 136 kg (300 lbs) lighter than the Challenger, so it will be possible for Chrysler to slot in a four-cylinder unit, for the base version of the car.
Furthermore, since Chrysler is connected to Fiat, which is connected to Alfa Romeo and, implicitly, to Mazda, perhaps some of that sports car expertise will trickle down into the Barracuda, taking further away from its muscle car roots, and bringing it closer to what a real sports car should actually be like.
