Unhappy About BMW's M3 and M4? No Worries, Here's an E30 Looking Wondrously in CGI

It's pretty safe to say that most BMW designs today are the talk of town. Unfortunately for them, it's not for the best reasons. But scandals sell, and maybe that's the approach in Bavaria nowadays.
There are numerous models to complain about. To some, the latest M2 looks like a Minecraft creation. Others think the M3 and M4 are the true Vampire's Assistants, given their double-coffin kidney grilles. And don't even get us started on the 7 Series and i7, the X7 LCI and XM, for example.

Sure, diehard fans will also tell you that BMWs are an acquired taste, and you'll get along with them just fine if you're a thrill seeker because we all know the Bavarians love to underrate their high-performance machines. However, not long ago, everyone believed the company's compact executive cars were just sensible German machines.

Think of the times of the E30 second-generation BMW 3 Series, when the company not only established the model as a great contender against the Audi and Mercedes-Benz rivals but also kickstarted the M3 frenzy with the inaugural homologation special devised for the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) and Group A Touring motorsport series.

Back then, it was a lot more about power and performance rather than looks – the iconic E30 M3 was a subtly evolved 3 Series Coupe or Convertible. Naturally, a lot of people have become lifelong fans of the original M3, even though BMW has devised another five generations since. As such, are we surprised by the high number of restomods based on the E30?

Of course not, and even the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is deeply in love with this legendary model. London, UK-based virtual artist Al Yasid, better known as al.yasid on social media, is again making purists run amok crying their BMW outrage, and this time he's again touching on the E30 subject. First in yellow, then in menacing black attire, by the way.

His refreshed design project takes the unsuspecting two-door E30 M3 coupe and gives it the classic stance of a slammed vehicle that would make ants scream and run for cover. It's also dressed in a funky aerodynamic kit; the body is wider than stock, and the wheels are deeper than anyone would dare to make them in real life.

As for the styling, it's easy to recognize this BMW as an E30 due to its iconic profile. However, the front and rear are completely changed to satisfy the pixel master's outstanding imagination. There's no trace of a humongous kidney grille, and purists might also lament the disappearance of the round front lights – while others might think the slim LEDs at the front and back are for the better.

Anyway, if you don't like it and think it's too extreme, sorry, you're out of luck. That's because CGI experts tend to exaggerate – even when working on a Mercedes-Benz, you're still going to have to admit to all sorts of feelings. Here, let us give you an example from joshdesigns, too, where a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 AMG turned into a fully armored limousine seemingly capable of traversing any terrain! That's something, right?
