The UK’s EV charging network, like almost all other on continental Europe, is subject constant expansion and upgrading, in order to finally offer motorists range anxiety-free EV motoring. Estonia, a very small country, is well on its way of being completely covered by the charging point network, and so is Holland - something which the UK is also striving to achieve.
In an effort to get the ball rolling, Elektromotive (the UK’s largest developer of EV charging stations) has joined forces with Charge Your Car (North), in order to establish the country’s largest charging point network. The joint venture bares the name Charge Your Car Limited, and one of its first missions will be the expansion of the country’s northeastern part of the network as well as joining it with the 3,000 strong charging point network, currently under the control of Elektromotive.
The main goal is to eventually have 10,000 pay-as-you-go charging stations scattered around the country, eventually covering the whole of the British Isles. Work is slated to commence next year, but no final deadline date is currently available - should take a while, though!
