Volkswagen Tiguan buyers from the UK can now opt for the sporty R-Line trim level, which gives the German crossover a bit more aggression. With 18-inch alloys, a subtle body kit and bi-xenon headlamps, its slightly-more-sporty styling will undoubtedly have its fans. Last year, the Tiguan accounted for almost 20% of all VW sales in the UK, and the new R-Line pack will only boost its appeal.
On the inside it gets two-tone sports seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and the usual stainless steel pedals. When it comes to powerplants, the Tiguan R-Line is only available with the most powerful motors in the range, and namely the 2.0-liter 207 hp TSI unit, and the familiar 2.0-liter TDI, with either 138 hp or 168 hp.

The power is transmitted to all four wheels via a six speed manual gearbox, which comes as standard. Pricing-wise, the lower-powered diesel costs £28,020, while the more powerful variant costs £28,700. The petrol version, with the same powerplant as the Golf GTI, costs £28,435. The car is available for order now, with deliveries beginning in January 2013.
