What’s better than a tuned twin-turbo 2JZ? Well, two of them reunited in a quad-turbo V12, that’s a lot better.
Toyota had a single V12 engine in its whole history, the 1GZ-FE 5-liter DOHC with VVTi engine making around 300 hp and 481 Nm. Not too much for an engine that size, but hey, it’s something and it was fitted to a 2-ton limousine - the Toyota Century.
A highly tuned twin-turbo version of that V12 has been used by Top Secret to make a custom 950 hp Toyota Supra. And then we stumbled upon this thing, which I would really love to see alive and banging.
Someone had the idea of taking two 2JZ engines, combine them into a V12 and fit it with four turbos, each one providing boost for for three cylinders. Why aren’t we founding this?
