Keen Japanese drivers have been modifying and driving their Toyota Supras hard ever since the car was first launched, back in 1992. It was an excellent sports car and highly mod-friendly. The guy who is driving the Supra in this video, clearly knows the road, as he breaks hard and early for some very tight corners and does a good job of driving the car quickly around the twisty road.
However, the car gets a hint of snap oversteer which he over-corrects, driving him straight into the guard rail, damaging the left side of the car rather badly. It just goes to show how tricky rear wheel-drive with a lot of oomph can be, on a chassis which was not designed to take the kind of power figures achieved on tuned Supras.
So, next time you’re driving a high-powered Toyota Supra on a twisty Japanese mountain road, be sure to keep your throttle-foot steady, otherwise you may suffer the same fate as the driver in the video.
