Tuned McLaren 720S Drag Races Sleeper Corvette Z06, Gets Unlucky

The rock carbon fiber-solid reputation of the McLaren 720S means that taking such a supercar to a drag racing event will turn you into a moving target for tuner cars. So you take the Woking animal to the gym before hitting the track, of course.

Then again, you might come across other who have done their homework during such velocity meets. And this is precisely what happened to the driver of the modded 720S in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.

To be more precise, the massaged Macca has recently attended a drag racing event that saw the thing duking it out with plenty of go-fast toys.

And the battle that got our heart racing saw the Woking missile duking it out with a C7 Corvette Z06. Now, the Z06 seems to have maintained its factory look, but we can't say the same about its tech side.

And while no details of the Chevy's aftermarket adventure are mentioned in the video, the way in which the machine sprints towards the horizon speaks for itself.

The McLaren's dual-clutch transmission still gives the Brit an edge at first, but there's only so much tech refinements can do against an opponent whose power-to-weight ratio is superior.

Note that we're talking about a rolling drag racing event here, so the two beasts had no issue with putting their power down - the battles saw the participants going at it from 40 mph.

PS: While the modded 720S vs. tuned Z06 battle awaits you at the 5:32 point of the video below, you'll also find two other races in the clip: the supped-up McLaren drag races a stock 720S at the 2:26 point, while it duked it out with a heavily massaged Porsche 911 Turbo S at the 3:47 point. Oh, and there's also a bonus race I won't mention here.
