Trulli Unhappy with Dark Races in Australia & Malaysia

Bernie Ecclestone's decision to pressure the organizers of the Australian Grand Prix to move both the Saturday qualifying session and Sunday race one hour later might suit the European fans – as they'll have an extra hour of sleep in the morning – but certainly won't make any fans within the F1 drivers.

The immediate effect of this measure will be the final few laps of the race (or minutes of the qualifying session) ending in a low-sunny afternoon sky. It won't be as sunny as in the afternoon, but also not as competing under artificial light. And that might cause some problems for the drivers, as argued by F1 veteran Jarno Trulli.

“I don't know about it. I've never raced before this late in the afternoon. I don't know what the light is going to be. In Singapore it was totally dark, with lights. This will be different again. In truth, I prefer the sunny day time,” said the Italian driver, according to Australian newspaper The Age.

The move was made to both make it easier for Australian fans to come to the race track after their usual working hours and make for a more suitable morning hour for the European fans to watch the Melbourne action. Similar actions were taken by the Sepang officials for this year's Malaysian Grand Prix.

On the other hand, fellow Italian Giancarlo Fisichella doesn't feel the change in schedule will affect the action at both Albert Park and Sepang. “It may be a bit darker at the end of the race, but I don't think this will change a lot for the drivers,” argued the Force India driver, as reported by GMM news agency.
