TX2K's 2024 edition took place between March 12 and 17 in Texas at the Texas Motorplex outside Dallas. As always, it was filled with adrenaline-rush moments – both from drags as well as rolls.
As Lady Winter loosens its grip on the Northern Hemisphere, some venues are already in the mood for feisty Spring action. That was the case with the 'Super Bowl' of street car racing, TX2K (presented in 2024 by Summit Racing Equipment), which occurred at the historic Texas Motorplex, the "world's first single-pour, tension concrete track, where speed was born," located Ennis, Texas, United States, which is about 40 miles south of downtown Dallas.

It is currently home to the TX2K and NHRA Fall Nats Stampede of Speed, among others, so it's got both the pedigree and experience to handle just about everything, from mind-bending drags to cringy accidents and from new world records to stunning high-speed roll races. For example, the good folks over at the racing-focused 'ImportRace' channel on YouTube were on point during TX2K's 2024 edition with ample coverage.

If you're interested, they have some of the crazy accidents involving a Ford Mustang (of course), an Audi R8, and even a hot-rodded Nissan Z restomod included in the footage. They also caught the newest world record when a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat stomped everything, including a Demon, a fellow Challenger Hellcat, and also a Chevy Camaro, to post an impressive 7.48s pass during one of the nights of the event.

On the other hand, a new YouTube channel aptly named The Drag Race seeks to make a name for itself on the scene with racer interviews and quarter-mile dragstrip action. For their first outing related to TX2K24, the videographer selected Fabricio for the track-side interview and his Calvo Motorsports-prepared matte-black third-generation (VX I) 2014 Dodge Viper. While the odd-firing 8.4-liter Viper V10 usually performed its peak at around the 645 to 650-hp value, this tuned monster was massaged for something else entirely – its twin- turbo setup now churns out around 3,300 to 3,400 horsepower, according to the driver.

Of course, they are also putting all that oomph into the proper perspective as the Viper pulled alongside a modded Audi R8, which allegedly has more than 2,000 horsepower coming from its smaller displacement V10. However, this wasn't a drag race because the two participated in a 65-mph roll racing event. The video is a bit disjointed as it jumps back and forth from the track to the interview and the car, but as far as we can tell from the footage (there's an in-car replay, too), the Viper was a bit behind the R8 during the first leg of the roll race but then all hell broke loose, and those triple turbos pushed it past its adversary, even if the latter had a higher top speed.
