While Lady Winter hasn't completely left from the Northern Hemisphere, that doesn't mean it still has enough strength to impede some of the traditional spring events – especially in the traditionally sunnier places across the greater United States.
For example, folks down South already enjoy some wild adventures at the local quarter-mile dragstrip. The big events are also coming, and some have even already wrapped up. No worries if you missed some of the action that took place at the 2024 edition of TX2K (March 12-17) at Texas Motorplex in Ferris, Texas, very close to Dallas; the good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube were on point during TX2K24, and they have ample coverage of the adventures.

They started with the most 'explosive' bits and pieces, such as the crashes of a Ford (it's a Mustang thing, of course), an Audi R8, and also of a beautifully hot-rodded old-school Nissan Z. Since this is TX2K, no edition should be without major drama queens like the very upset owner of the Mustang that crashed into the side barrier, and his anger is quite understandable when you put into perspective the fact that Dodge kind of dominated the proceedings.

At least, that's what the videographer wants us to believe in the latest video embedded below, which allegedly includes a new 7.488-second pass that constitutes a new world record for a crimson Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. Unfortunately, we don't have many details about the conditions – such as the class or what kind of world record we are dealing with. Anyway, that's not necessarily the most important part – records are meant to be broken, and this one, if real, could last until the next pass of the feisty Charger or until one of its direct rivals catches a better quarter mile.

So, the focus is on a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, part of the L-bodied series that just died to make way for the eighth-generation Charger with 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six twin-turbo and EV powertrains under the hood. It remains to be seen if the new one will be just as prone to great achievements at the local quarter-mile dragstrip as this one, by the way. The first race was against a black Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, so we knew from the get-go it would be one for the ages.

Well, the Charger didn't have the greatest starts out there as it struggled with an incipient wheelie, but once the driver regained control, it quickly recouped the lost distance and finished first with an impressive time of 9.18 versus 9.63s for the Challenger Demon. The second race was against a widebody Challenger knight in shiny dragstrip armor, but this time around, the Charger didn't flinch and hooked to the tarmac like a crocodile to its dying prey – hence the great 7.97 versus 8.78s victory.

Last but not least, the third time was the absolute charm. Later that night, in the cooler air, the Dodge Charger showed why the team equipped it with a parachute. The final skirmish in the video embedded below is against a silver Chevrolet Camaro, probably a modded ZL1 (it's too dark to see the details), and this was perhaps the perfect pass – the Hellcat shot out of its starting position like an army of DC Parademons was after it and it didn't even matter that the Camaro got absolutely stomped in the process: 7.488s at 184 mph (296 kph) against Chevy's disastrous 14.33s pass.
