Toyota is expanding its range of hybrid vehicles with the introduction of the 2012 Yaris Hybrid, a vehicle that brings petrol-gasoline powertrains to the sub-compact segment.
The Yaris hybrid comes with a downsized version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, which uses a refreshed 1.5-liter petrol four-cylinder unit, with the combined output sitting at 98 hp. To get an idea what this downsizing trend has brought, we have to tell you that the Yaris hybrid’s powertrain is around 2 fifth lighter than the one used in the Auris Hybrid. All these changes seem to have borough a more dynamic image for the Yaris.
The vehicle has also received exterior modifications, with two main roles: aerodynamics and cooling, with the move also bringing it a stronger “Toyota” identity. The 2012 Toyota Yaris hybrid is scheduled to make its public debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and will hit the marker subsequently.
