Toyota to Fight Back at NAIAS

After in 2009 Japanese carmaker Toyota went through one of its worst years in the US, the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) may prove to be the perfect ground for the manufacturer to redeem itself in the eyes of the American public.

Toyota will benefit from a 23,500-square-foot exhibit at the Cobo Center and plans on using every inch of it to showcase its "acuity in hybrid vehicle technology and innovation in all areas of advanced future technology."

The carmaker will bring to Detroit several of the cars and concepts we were introduced to last year, including the FT-EV II concept and the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV).

"This exhibit makes a strong statement about our environmental pursuits, now and in the future," Donna Walter, Auto Show Exhibits Manager at Toyota said in a release. "Innovation is driving our industry and visitors will marvel at how quickly automobiles are evolving in areas of fuel efficiency, safety and comfort."

Cars aside, Toyota plans on winning back the hearts and minds of the customers in its biggest market by setting up a variety of automotive-related tech'n'toys: a Prius Solar Moonroof Display, a Telematics Kiosk, and the Toyota Live studio. The Toyota Camry Hybrid used as a pace car in NASCAR will also be on display at the event.

NAIAS opens its doors on January 11 for the media and on January 16 for the public. The event
itself promises to be one to remember, as manufacturers attending will try and put aside the struggles of 2009 and present the future they are all dreaming of.
