Japanese automaker Toyota will reportedly drop the regular cab version out of its Tacoma lineup as of 2015, when the third-generation pickup truck is set to arrive. Toyota has yet to confirm the rumor, but announced instead that the 2014 Tacoma will carry on without the X-Runner grade.
Introduced in 2005 as a limited production trim, the X-Runner was offered with a lowered suspension, hood scoop, ground effects kit, sports wheels and tires, and many more. The truck gained the X-Runner name as Toyota added a rear mounted X-brace to stiffen up the rear end.

In other related news, the SR Package for the 2014 Tacoma includes Color Key Exterior Appearance, smoked headlamps, fog lights on V6 models, and 16-inch Alloy Baja wheels in back. As for the exterior color, the SR will be available in Pyrite Mica, Spruce Mica and Nautical Blue Metallic only.

Toyota also announced the introduction of two new colors for the regular Tacoma as well - Silver Sky Metallic and Blue Ribbon Metallic, which replace the Silver 1E7 and the Blue 8S6. Inside, the Tacoma will get a multimedia update consisting of an Expanded headunit and Entune availability, while the backup monitor image will be moved from the inner mirror to the headunit.

The 2014 Toyota Tacoma will go on sale next month.
