Toyota is currently doing a 174,000-vehicle worldwide recall over a steering system glitch and more than 5,000 UK units are targeted.
The automaker is recalling 5,409 Yaris and Verso-S models from UK, built between November 2010 and March 2012, over a small problem with the steering mechanism.

It’s nothing serious or life threatening, worst case scenario being the power steering malfunctioning and steering getting heavier, younger drivers being introduced to how wheel shuffling was done 60 years ago.

The glitch seem to appear when water droplets form on certain wire circuits in the power steering module, which can cause a short circuit disabling the assisted steering.

No accidents or injuries have been reported so far. For details, owners can access Toyota UK’s official webpage and consult the owner section to see if their car is involved in the recall.
