A recent study performed by BusinessCar over green-vehicle producers, has placed Toyota on the first place for its excellent environmental performances.
The study was based on UK’s top 20 fleet manufacturers and measured factors like the number of green cars offered, average CO2 emissions and how well the cars were performing according to European emission regulations.
With seven models (Prius, Prius+, Aygo, iQ, Auris Hybrid, Yaris Hybrid and Prius Plug-in) achieving under 100g/km CO2 emissions, Toyota obtained an 82 percent overall score, with maximum results in four out of ten criteria. It is the fifth time in six years for Toyota to hold the first place when it comes to eco-friendly vehicles.
Toyota also hit 5 million hybrid units sold recently, since the first Prius went on sale in 2000. About 70 percent of all US hybrid sales are Toyota and Lexus vehicles, making the automaker a leader in hybrid matter.
The Japanese automaker also claimed their hybrid cars managed to keep the atmosphere cleaner by 34 million tons of less CO2, while sparing 3 billion gallons of petrol.
