Toyota’s Hilux has proven itself to be a tough old bird, as explorers have taken it both poles. From its launch back in 1967, Toyota has sold some 13 million of them and last year alone, they delivered over half a million.
However, it’s surprising to see such a vehicle can also be popular in Europe. Last year, about 25 percent of the pickups in this segment sold there were Hilux vehicles.
The 2012 model has plenty of cool features, but this workhorse is still lacking luxury and exclusivity. That’s where Polish customizer Carlex Design stepped in with a bespoke interior featuring the same sort of leather you get in luxury cars.
The seats have been reupholstered in black and red leather with strong red stitching. The centers feature a quilted design with doubled black seams. The same treatment is seen on the rear bench seats of this Double Cab pickup.
So as to make us forget about the nasty plastic, the dash and the doors have also been finished in black and red leather with contrasting stitching.
