After a struggling season filled with bad luck, Toyota Racing finished its first full FIA World Endurance Championship season with a victory at the Six Hours of Bahrain.
The No.8 TS030 Hybrid of Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Stephane Sarrazin was first to cross the finish line at the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend.

“It was fantastic to end up on the top step of the podium. I am so happy for the team to get our first proper victory of the year.” said Anthony Davidson after the race. “Obviously the #7 won in Fuji but the conditions were unusual that day with the rain. Today’s result is completely justified after what happened in Shanghai when we were leading comfortably but had to retire due to a technical problem. We had the speed all weekend here and it’s great to finally win my first race for TOYOTA Racing.”

Of course, Toyota team wasn’t spared by bad luck and its No.7 racecar that started alongside with the No.8 from pole, had to abruptly end the race after an oil leak made the engine to stop dead after about two hours into the race.

However, team president Yoshiaki Kinoshita was very glad to end the season with a victory, showing everyone that Toyota’s technology is capable to fight the Germans’.

“This victory has a special meaning for us because this it is the last race of the season and we won. Our win was not down to luck; our performance was better than our competitors so from this point of view I am very happy.” said Kinoshita.
