Well, that’s a first. Toyota decided it’s high time the Auris adopted the downsizing trend and the 2015 Geneva Motor Show was the perfect place for that to happen.
Let’s talk a bit about the engine, since we’re here. The unit is using direct-injection technology and intelligent variable valve timing that can decide whether the engine runs in either Otto or Atkinson cycle. Resource-wise, the engine delivers 115 PS and 185 Nm (136 lb-ft) of torque delivered between 1,500 and 4,000 RPM.

In terms of efficiency and fuel consumption, Toyota says that the engine will only drink around 4.7 l per 100 km, the equivalent of 50 mpg in the United States. Not that it really matters, but equipped with this engine, the Auris goes from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.1 seconds and can hit a top speed of 200 km/h (125 mpg).

Like the Avensis facelift, the Auris didn’t get away with just mechanical upgrades, as its exterior design was slightly revised here and there, with changes affecting the front grille, headlights and the front bumper. Not quite the kind of design that adds stance and prestige, but we’re satisfied with the fresh look of the Auris facelift.

The rear end gets the same treatment while the interior was enhanced with glossy black accents on the dashboard and new air vents. A more subtle move positioned the traditional clock to the right of the touchscreen display. Make sure you check the photo gallery for fresh pictures from the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
