Which one would you prefer? The Fiat 500L disguised under a sleeker shell or the domesticated Land Cruiser? Well, let’s see what they have to offer.
While the Jeep had a nose job and is now sucking lemons, the 4Runner had a liposuction, now being more rough and muscular, looking ready to turn into an Autobot.
They both pack some punch under the hood, with the 4Runner being powered by a 270 hp 4-liter V6, very similar with the Jeep’s 271 hp V6 on the higher trim. Power is reaching the wheels through a rough five-speed automatic in the mini Land Cruiser while the squinting Jeep uses a 9-speed auto.
Off-road performance is enhanced by a three-mode 4x4 system, Hill-start Assist, Downhill Assist Control and disconnecting stabilizer bars on the 4Runner. The Cherokee comes with an active all-wheel-drive system with five modes for snow, sport, sand/muck, rock and auto.
The Cherokee comes at a smaller price but doesn’t come fit by default with the big engine, so the rough 4Runner seems a better choice in our opinion.
