Toro Rosso Will Launch STR6 by Valencia Test

Scuderia Toro Rosso this week announced, through the voice of its spokesman, that it will have its 2011 spec car ready for the first test of the winter, scheduled from February 1 to 3, at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.

The new car is on schedule,” said the spokesman, according to f1today.nl. “We are planning to have it for the first test in Valencia,” he added, although he did not give the Dutch publication an official launch date for the Faenza based team's STR6. What's important though is that it will happen before the Valencia kick-off test.

More importantly though, it seems that the STR6 will benefit from improved power, courtesy of the new Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS). As revealed by race driver Sebastien Buemi, who's yet to be confirmed by the way, the new car features an impressive design and will be fitted with both KERS and the new adjustable rear wing.

There will be quite a few new tasks in the cockpit next year, with the re-introduction of KERS and the use of an adjustable rear wing. I am not going to tell you anything (more) about the STR6, let's just say it definitely looks impressive!” said Buemi, following the simulation he did on board of the new car at Faenza, earlier this week.

So far, only Sauber F1 Team has announced an official launch date for their 2011 challenger. The Swiss team will reveal their car to the media on January 31st, most likely in the garage area of the Ricardo Tormo circuit. The Hinwil based organization will reveal other aspects of the launch in due time.
