Sauber Confirms 2011 Car Launch Date for January 31

Sauber F1 Team has become the first squad in the 12-team entry list for the 2011 Formula One season to announce the launch of their 2011 challenger. In a media statement for the press, the Swiss team confirmed that the car for next season will bear the name of Sauber C30, and will be disclosed to the media in the last day of January, 2011.

Planning for the 2011 season is taking shape: The Sauber F1 Team will be introducing the Sauber C30-Ferrari on the morning of the 31st January 2011 at the Circuit Riccardo Tormo in Valencia,” said the press release from the Hinwil based organization.

The day before the official testing begins Team Principal, Peter Sauber, the team’s management and the drivers will be available for the media. In the afternoon filming with the C30 is planned. Further details about the programme will follow,” added the document.

With this announcement, it might be that Sauber will be one of the last teams to show their 2011 car to the world. Taking into account that the first official test of the winter kicks off the very next day, February 1st, at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit, the majority of teams will likely hold presentation events sooner than that date.

However, it might happen, as it did last winter, that some teams will be unable to complete work on their 2011 cars by the first test of the year, considering the new technical regulations imposed by the FIA for next season (KERS, adjustable wings, etc). Until further such announcements will be made, we'll just put Sauber on the board with January 31. By then, we hope they'll also secure a title sponsor for the 2011 campaign.
