Toro Rosso Boss Unhappy with 2010 Season

With the addition of 3 new teams to the Formula One roster in 2010, suddenly being 9th from 12 outfits at the end of the season doesn't feel that good anymore. For a small team, that is. And that's because the first 9 teams of 2010 have raced in a league of their own, while the newly entrants spent the entire season praying to get past the finish line.

So when we talk about 9th placed Scuderia Toro Rosso, one should in fact look at it as the less impressive team of last season. Scoring points on only 8 occasions, the Faenza based squad will certainly aim for more in 2011, as stated loud and clear by their very boss Franz Tost.

I'm not so happy with the complete season, we will have some tough months in November, December and January because we have a lot of work ahead of us. We simply have to catch up,” said Tost in a recent discussion with the reporters from Autosport.

For the first time in their recent history, the Italian team (backed by Red Bull Racing) has built their own chassis from beginning to end. Until the 2010 season, some parts and the overall design of their challengers were the results of the work put in by the Red Bull Technology centre, the same one which prepared the F1 cars for “bigger sister” Red Bull.

When new FIA rules kicked in following the 2009 campaign, all teams were forced to set up their own design and car parts in house. After a struggling first campaign in 2010, Tost has come up with some ideas on how to speed up the development process at Faenza.

It's, year-by-year, a developing process - you can never stop. We will work hard. We still have to improve the infrastructure, we have to bring people in. We have a lot of work in front of us, but hopefully all these tasks we have set up, we will find a successful solution for them,” added the Austrian team manager.
