A group of people who for the past 30 years have have specialized themselves in chopping off the roofs of vehicles which otherwise look quite dandy with them on is now getting ready to unveil their latest project, the Cadillac CTS Coupe... cabrio.
The group of people we are talking about is called Drop Top Customs, they are from Florida and last year they surprised the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show with two other convertibles, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger.
There are no information available so far about the project, apart from the two renderings released by the drop top specialists. But really, who needs any details? The car has no more roof and that's about it.
Performance wise, the Cadillac CTS with no roof may not be tweaked in any way. As it exits the GM factory, the model is powered by a direct injected 3.6l V6 unit that develops 304 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption rating is estimated at 27 mpg (8.7 l/100km) highway, but that will change with no roof on.
A more powerful version, dubbed CTS-V Coupe, will be available with a 6.2l supercharged V8 engine that produces 556 horsepower.
The price of the unmodified CTS Coupe was set by GM at $38,990. The price for the drop top version will be a bit higher, even if less metal is being offered. For comparison, last year's Camaro convertible conversion is being sold for an extra $18,000 on top of the regular price of the Camaro.
