Since his inclusion in the Top Gear cast back in 2002, the Stig has become one of the most famous TV personalities and a closely guarded secret. Only because he was never officially revealed, that is. Reportedly portrayed by Ben Collins until 2010, the Stig is again a character that everyone wants to find out more about.
The latest speculation regarding the Stig’s identity comes via Daily Record, who claims the mysterious driver in white is former British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden, who tested the Honda Mean Mower, a souped-up lawnmower developed with Top Gear, that was later driven by the Stig as well.
The paper also says that Gordon has worked for the show before as a test driver and that he still has links to the show’s presenters and backroom staff. Contacted by the Sunday Mail and asked whether or not he was the Stig, Shedden successfully avoided a clear answer, saying that “I don’t think anyone can say that. At the end of the day, it is just a person in a white suit. It’s more about the myth about Stig than who it is. It is like trying to find Santa Claus, isn’t it?”.
We bet some of you are surprised the Stig isn't actually Michael Schumacher...
... admit it, you we're thinking about it.
