Our friends from iSeeCars.com answered the question with an intriguing analysis. After the automotive data and research company examined 12 million vehicles sold in calendar year 2015, from model years 1981 through 2016, iSeeCars found out that trucks and truck-based SUVs lead the rank.
The top two models with the highest percentage of vehicles over 200,000 miles are heavy-duty trucks.

Heavy-duty trucks aren’t just rugged, dependable, and reliable. Truck owners who are dependent on their workhorses are paying more attention to maintenance and repairs because their livelihood depends on the operating condition of the vehicle. "Similarly, the largest SUVs, such as Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, are also often used for business purposes, such as in the livery industry," stated Phong Ly, the CEO of iSeeCars.
And yes, the only car on the list of longest-lasting vehicles is the Toyota Avalon, the full-size sedan with the same name as the island in the legend of King Arthur. If we exclude pickup trucks and SUVs altogether from the rank, we’ll be left with the top 10 longest lasting cars. Unsurprisingly, the list is dominated by cars made in the Land of the Rising Sun, with three domestic models rounding the list off.
