Tony Stewart Goes Racing in Australia

World of Outlaws sprint cars will be seen on Australian turf later this month, at Sydney’s Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway, during the country's biggest events on the calendar. Outlaws fans attending the event will be able to see NASCAR Sprint Cup owner-driver Tony Stewart, as well as All-Star Series champion Tim Shaffer and Outlaws sprint car driver Donny Schatz taking the cars for a spin.

After starting his own NASCAR team at the beginning of the year Tony has had a very long year and his main focus is to come to Australia to unwind while enjoying some time away from the pressure of racing at the top level,” Garry Rush, promoter of the races said according to Auto123.

However, he is a true racer at heart and has jumped at the opportunity we have provided him to race at Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway while combining it with some holiday activities both around Sydney and other parts of Australia.

For Stewart, the trip to Australia is somewhat of a return to his roots. Early in his racing career, he competed in a limited schedule at Parramatta City Raceway. He then moved on to IndyCar series and NASCAR.

Stewart, running his own team for the first time in 2009, managed to take the first place in the non-championship NASCAR Sprint All-Star race.

Stewart, two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion, was the host of the 2009 Stewie Awards earlier this month.
