When we wrote about Chinese BQ’s Monza sports car look-alike phone we thought it was about time somebody would start making some serious luxury smartphones inspired by cars. With the officially unveiling of the limited edition Tonino Lamborghini 88 Tauri that might have been covered now.
The Tonino Lamborghini Tauri 88 is what you’d call a decent luxury smartphone. Let us explain.

One of the world’s most expensive iPhone 6 costs hypercar money. Handset with over 6,127 brilliant cut diamonds, the whole body is recreated in solid 18ct gold weighing 85 grams. Then, there’s the 24 Karat Gold iPhone 6 designed by German DMC custom auto shop. Limited to only 88 units, the high-end phone is fully encased in pure gold and garnished with some sort of shiny stones, most likely Swarovski crystals.

Still not furious enough? What if we were to tell you that the most expensive iPhone 6 in the world costs more than the Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta? The SuperNova collection designed by US-based company Falcon is pure madness. The cheapest collection is $32,5 million (EUR 26,31), while the top-of-range comes for $48,5 million (EUR 39,26).

Now, back to our Tauri 88.

Obviously designed by Lamborghini as part of their exclusive Style and Accessories branch, the $6,000 (EUR 4,860) smartphone comes in a limited edition of 1,947 items and will hit the market at the end of the month. Marketed as the most powerful luxury smartphone in Russia, the 88 Tauri is made out of solid steel and is available in three coloring options, Gold, Black and plain steel.

It offers a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and probably has a bigger brain than your own comp back at home: 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which was fitted with 3GB of RAM and a 65GB internal storage that is expandable.

While the rear camera is stronger, with a 20MP sensor, the one in the front is still quite potent - 8MP. Powered by a 3,200 mAh battery, the Tauri 88 is said to last for up to 35 hours while talking and around 1,000 hours in standby mode.

Like we previously mentioned, the number of the models is limited at 1947, which is the year the founder of the company, Tonino Lamborghini, was born.
