Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) has announced they signed a new deal with tehir top rider Tom Sykes for the 2014 World Superbike championship.
The 2012 runner-up, Sykes will start his fifth full year in Kawasaki livery aboard the new Ninja ZX-10R machine, and this is also mentioned like a token of recognition for the role he played in the development of the racing version of the bike.

As Guim Roda, the Team Manager declared, signing Tom early should also give him the calm needed to focus on the remainder of the 2013 championship and plan ahead for 2014.

"For me this is an awesome place to be. I have made my feelings quite clear to Kawasaki and all the individual team members and sponsors. I am really happy in my working environment and very relaxed. I am probably at my best in this kind of scenario so the natural thing is to continue for at least another year in SBK," Sykes added.

Ichiro Yoda, KHI Race Planning Manager also said: “I feel Tom looks like he is going to be ‘Mr Kawasaki’, because after we had great success with American rider Scott Russell we found it difficult to find a new ‘Mr Kawasaki.’ Now it looks like Tom can be this person."

Sykes is second in the 2013 WSBK standings with 235 points, only 4 down from Aprilia's Sylvain Guintoli.
