Timo Glock Auctions German GP Helmet for UN Programme

Here's some news that we haven't paid too much attention to in the last few days. While everyone was preparing for the German Grand Prix on Saturday night, Toyota's Timo Glock used the time to launch an online charity auction aimed to to raise funds for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) via www.wfp.org/formula1-auction.

Being that his TF109 didn't help him too much during the Saturday qualifying – he had to settle for a disappointing 19th place on the grid – Glock decided to use his time in Germany to raise money for the ‘Fill the Cup' programme – destined to feed hungry children around the world.

If you're wondering what the auction is all about, know that one can win Timo's special designed helmet, which he used during the German Grand Prix last weekend. The design itself was the result of an online competition – namely the Panasonic ‘Kids School' helmet design competition – which saw school children under the age of 12 forwarding designs of their own to be picked by Glock.

The German driver was not alone in his attempt to help raise funds for the aforementioned organization, as he was joined by German boxer Felix Sturm. The Leverkusen-born sportsman auctioned his gloves, with which he beat Khoren Gevor on Saturday night, at the Ring Arena at the Nürburgring.

Glock visited the arena ahead of the fight, while joined by Panasonic ‘Kids School' helmet design winner Tom Luca Hoffmann and his parents.

WFP's ‘Fill the Cup' campaign was further promoted by Glock's team, Panasonic Toyota Racing, who brought Swiss pop star DJ BoBo as a guest appearance at the Nurburgring.
