Tiger Woods Injured in Car Accident

World’s best golf player Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident next to his home yesterday. His Cadillac Escalade hit a fire hydrant and then a tree as he pulled out of the driveway, according to an incident report from the Florida highway patrol in Orange County.

Orange County fire and rescue arrived quickly and took him to Health Central Hospital. Woods, though seriously injured, was released from a hospital in good condition after treatment, Reuters reported.

Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, told the police she was inside the house when she heard the accident. She said she went outside and used a golf putter to break out the rear window of the vehicle, then pulled her husband from the SUV.

Police Chief Daniel Saylor said two Windermere police officers were the first to arrive on the scene.

"There was Tiger Woods laying on the ground in front of the vehicle with his wife over him rendering first aid," he was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.

"He was in and out of consciousness with lacerations to his upper and lower lip," Saylor said. "He was mumbling but didn't say anything coherent."

The crash remains under investigation and charges were pending, the police report said. It also stated the accident was not alcohol-related. The SUV, which was drivable, as just the vehicle's front end was damaged.

Woods' office, in a statement published on his website, said: "He was admitted, treated and released today in good condition. We appreciate very much everyone's thoughts and well wishes."
