Three Mercedes Models Are Value Retention Champions

Mercedes-Benz today announced that three of its vehicles have been named “Residual Value Giants” in the recent 2015 forecast released by Focus Online and Bahr & Fess Forecasts.

According to the report, the B-Klasse, CLS and SLS AMG will be affected by the smallest percentage decline in resale value within their segments.

For example, in the upper mid-range segment, a four year-old CLS 350 CDI will be traded for 54 percent of its original price. As for enthusiasts of the SLS AMG, they’ll have to pay 59 percent of the vehicle’s original price after four years if they want to own a pre-owned one.

Another three pointed start vehicle that made it to the top three of its class is the SLK 350, which will sell for 52 percent of its original price (after the same four-year period). The sporty body versions of the E-Klasse, the coupe and the convertbile, also received high scores: 54 percent and 56.5 percent, respectively.

The 2015 Residual Value Giants ranking is drawn up on the basis of calculations made by the Bähr & Fess Forecast market research institute in Saarbrücken. For many years now, the company has been regularly studying the residual value of used cars, using a broad array of data. On behalf of Focus Online, the company determined which vehicles could be expected to achieve the highest resale value, assuming they were bought new in April 2011 and resold in April 2015,” the press release states, explaining the way in which the report was generated.
