Apart from actually talking with the owner or maybe having a glance at the interior instrument panel, you would probably have a pretty hard time guessing that the following four-wheeled creation started in life as a three-pointed star roadster.
Having had its 25th birthday last month, the Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster of the R129 variety has pretty much become a cult car in the last few years, but this hasn't stopped the Italian owner and creator of the following car to completely butcher one and transform it into the repulsive creation you see in the video below.
Some may say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that we shouldn't judge, but the relativity of taste has to have a defined limit somewhere. In our opinion this car has completely crossed it.
Officially called Filandi Ever S, this barchetta-style one-off car has an aluminium body that has been hand beaten and bent into the final shape you see below. According to the owner, it was deliberately left unpainted in order to emphasize its sui generis fundamental nature.
The engine, transmission, suspension arms and most of its chassis is still original, meaning that we are actually talking about an SL 500 R129, powered by a five-liter naturally-aspirated V8 churning out 306 hp and 460 Nm (339 lb ft) of torque.
The visible parts of the car pretty much look like the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss Edition if it had been designed following sketches created in Braille, but maybe that's just us. We are certainly glad that it's one of a kind - literally. What do you guys think?
