It’s a known fact that BMW E30 M3 prices are going through the roof. We even told you that their value is growing faster than gold’s but even so, some prices are a bit exaggerated these days. Case and point: this BMW E30 M3.
The seller on Craigslist claims this is his ‘garage queen’ M3 and that it runs absolutely flawless. It’s a 1988 apparently and seems to be stock all the way through, which is really a rare thing these days. Most people turbocharger, supercharge or do some stupid stuff to their S14 engines in order to make the most out of the perfectly balanced chassis of the thing.
This one, however, seems rather untouched and, if the odometer wasn’t meddled with, at 98,012 miles (157,800 km) the chassis can still go for a couple thousand miles.
If this is a 1988 model, the engine is probably one of the first ever fitted to this chassis. In its stock guise it used to make 192 HP and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) out of 2 liters of displacement split between 4-cylinders. Of course, it was naturally aspirated and revved extremely high for that period, going up to 7,300 RPM.
Weighing only 1,165 kg (2,568 lbs), you can imagine just how fast, mad and agile this thing is. And yet, the $42,000 price seems a bit high for us too.
