Nobody can deny Google Maps is a fantastic navigation app, but the market is filled with alternatives that offer unique features to improve the experience behind the wheel.
HERE is one of the biggest names in the navigation space, as the company makes advanced software with features that include real-time traffic data and excellent coverage of the road network in almost every single country, at least in Europe.

HERE WeGo is the company's big alternative to Google Maps, offering a free package you can hardly find elsewhere. The latest update, now available on the App Store, makes HERE WeGo an even more powerful competitor to the likes of Google Maps and Apple Maps, thanks to adding a couple of new features.

Version 4.10 adds an option to get the previous navigation guidance one more time. The feature comes in handy if you missed an instruction and you're not sure which way to go. To instruct HERE WeGo to speak the same guidance again, you must tap the upper left side of the guidance screen.

HERE believes these little tricks are critical for the experience with a navigation app, so the latest update focuses heavily on such features. In addition to the re-spoken audio instruction, the application also allows users to see more map information by tapping the upper right side of the screen. When you do this, the application offers a wider guidance view, zooming out on the map.

The update also proves that HERE is more open to feedback than other companies, so maybe this is where Google and Apple should focus more. HERE has decided to update the application with scenic routes for motorcycles, as it adds new features for this transportation. Motorcycle support is new in HERE WeGo, but the parent company seems committed to improving the experience with every new update.

The scenic routes are an important addition, especially for bikers. Going from where you are to where you want to be isn't always a matter of how fast you can get there, as some users would rather choose a more relaxing route that allows them to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

HERE now offers such options as part of its motorcycle routing engine, along with turn-by-turn instructions with map visuals, voice guidance, and other route options. The application also offers the fastest route to the destination, so if you just want a quicker route, you'll get it, too.

HERE WeGo comes with support for CarPlay, so in addition to the iPhone, it can also provide navigation guidance on the infotainment screen. The application is free of charge, becoming one of the top Google Maps alternatives with a complete feature package that you can find on the App Store today.
