The Acura NSX might not be to everyone's liking, but that doesn't mean Honda appreciates its supercar design being stolen. Still, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Totally by accident, we found a weird replica from Indonesia which was released all the way back in 2014, three years ago. It's put together by a company called Double Seven that also tried to replicate the famous Lamborghini Reventon (unsuccessfully).

Getting back to the NSX, we're not aware of any other copies of it existing in the world. The old generation wasn't exactly a cutting-edge design, so it was left alone. In fact, there's even a Lamborghini Diablo replica that started life as the original Honda supercar.

So, what's under the angular new body, a Pontiac Fiero? Not even close! The Indonesian copycat is underpinned by the Honda Civic. We're not exactly sure which one, since Asian markets have a few locally-made derivatives. But the steering wheel looks like the one in the eight generation model.

The official NSX was launched in early 2016. So how did they manage to copy the design in 2014? Well, there were multiple concepts.

Unless we're mistaken, the first one was a roadster that was featured at the end of an Avengers movie. After saving the world, you see Tony Stark getting into a dark red Acura convertible and driving off with Bruce Banner. Honda made several versions of the concept after that, mainly because the project switched from a wide-set V10 engine to a V6 and then a twin-turbo V6.

The NSX is certainly not a Ferrari regarding performance, but the design is way better than people give it credit. Most of the work was carried out in America under the supervision of lead designer Michelle Christensen.

Do we really need to tell that the proportions of the Civic-based replica are wrong? No, so just enjoy the sight and check out how the whole village turned up to see it being loaded.
