There never was a better time to be a motorcycle fan this year that the first week of November. In the span of just a few days, a wealth of the world's most important bike makers have spilled the beans on what they have planned next, many of them fueled by the now on-going EICMA show in Milan.
Most of the two-wheelers we've seen so far this past week are conventional internal combustion engine ones, but makers of electric-powered machines try not to fall behind either. By far, the most important product announcement of the fall in this segment is the one made by Zero Motorcycles, a company that, for what it's worth, is the leader of this segment of the industry.

The still relatively young company (it was only established in 2006) already had an extensive lineup of motorcycles (nine of them, built on three platforms), but plans an even more exciting lineup for the 2024 model year. Among them are "several all-new models."

The first things worth mentioning have to do with the company's expansion into new segments. Aside from the 2024 model year FXE, S, and DS models being offered as 11 kW variants, the 2024 SR and DSR bikes will become the first products from Zero to be suitable for use by A2 license holders.

The great thing about these two motorcycles is that, once the rider grows up and gains more experience (A2 is for bikes that produce up to 47 horsepower) they can be upgraded with the fitting of a more powerful powertrain.

For the DS line of Zero motorcycles, the new model year brings to the table new variants of the DS and DSR dual-sport machines, with just minor enhancements, including the fitting of a reinforced chassis and a more durable carbon belt drive.

Pricing for the bikes in this range has been set at $15,995 for the DS and $19,995 for the DSR. The top-of-the-range DSR/X adventure bike will sell from $22,995.

Without a doubt the most exciting novelty from Zero this fall has to do with the Model S. That's all-new motorcycle that draws on the experience gained with the SR/F and SR/S and promises to offer the "best battery value in the industry.” The hardware that keeps the motorcycle going is a 14.4 kWh battery tied to a brand-new electric motor.

Zero plans to sell the new Model S for $14,995 on the American market. The other bikes in the range will continue to be offered, with pricing set at $20,495 for the SR/F and $20,995 for the SR/S.

Separately, two other motorcycles will return in the Zero lineup for the new model year, namely the FXE ($12,495), and FX ($12,495).
