The Zobin, an Appealing Concept from Ferrari's Number One Fan

It is not often that a new Ferrari is designed. To be quite frank, the latest Ferraris have been a bit no show and all go. Ferraris nowadays aren't the visual feast they once were, but ugly F1-race inspired cars. All that you can now show to your friends are a bit of carbon fiber space frame, steering wheels with buttons and rear air diffusers. All these things mean that these cars are interesting for people with white coats and pencils in their top pocket. The engineering type. The guys that say that 0.1 seconds are less than 0.2 and that counts a lot.

What Ferrari designers should do, is go have a beer in their local pub, and stay there. And in their place they should employ people that really care about the spirit of Ferrari. Ferraris are meant to be different. It should be show stoppers, design exercises on the road, red cars for red blooded men.

They should employ people like Siamak Ruhi Dehokordi. This is a 33yr old from Iran. Take a look at what he calls a Ferrari. This is his idea of a single seater car, and it combines the best of both worlds: it's F1 inspired, so every engineering enthusiast can look at it along with fashion creators who will admire the details, and the beautiful design.

This guy says that the exterior design is characterized by the original front structure made of a metal band which supports the headlights and gives it an “open wheels” look. This Ferrari is focused on efficiency, because it is said to have a compact motor mounted in mid-rear position.

He is currently working in the Iranian car industry, and looking for a master course. This should give the red guys from Marranelo something to think about when they hire new designers. Try this one.

So, Ferrari, when are you going to build it? One objection, though. The Zobin isn't exactly a catcher in the name department.
