Power for the new car will come from a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, that delivers an impressive 173 hp. The engine offers good fuel economy and low emissions. The 157 grams per kilometer of CO2 coming out of the exhaust pipes permit a 25 percent tax reduction in the UK. The one tone towing capacity should also make for a good caravan towing car. The model comes equipped as standard with ABS and EBD. It will be offered with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with a petrol 1.8-liter engine likely to find its way into production soon.
The car comes with a five year or 250,000 mile warranty and low running costs, meaning SsangYong were targeting the company car segment. Production of the right-hand drive version will begin later this year, with the car actually hitting showroom floors in January 2011. Prices have not been announced and are expected closer to the launch date.
SsangYong Motors has a total of 50 dealers spread across the UK ready to distribute the new model together with the existing ones, namely the Kyron, Rexton and Rodius. By 2011, the company hopes to have a total of 80 dealers in order to cope with demand.
